Protecting young football fans on-line
1 November 2005
The Football Association has today become the latest organisation to join the Virtual Global Taskforce. The Taskforce is an alliance of law enforcement agencies and businesses working together to help protect children and young people online.
Jim Gamble, Chair of the Virtual Global Taskforce and Deputy Director of the National Crime Squad said: "The Football Association has a long standing commitment to child protection - both on and off the football pitch. By becoming a partner to the Virtual Global Taskforce, the Football Association have made clear their determination to ensure that young football fans are also protected on and offline. The online football community is massive - and growing. By helping to raise awareness of the risks that children and young people can face online, and by providing the tools to manage those risks, we can empower young people and help make the Internet a safer place".
