Global Youth Partnership Project against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children
The ECPAT Global Youth Partnership Project (YPP) is an international initiative designed to empower and build the capacity of youth and children at risk to take the lead in the fight against sexual exploitation.
The initiative is aimed at child survivors and youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation and children from vulnerable communities.
The innovative project is grounded on child rights principles that recognise children and youth as legitimate social actors and rights holders, not welfare beneficiaries.
Since 2005, ECPAT International has been conducting a YPP for child survivors of commercial sexual exploitation in South Asia – specifically in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. This project has been very successful at creating a positive psycho-social impact on the lives of the children involved and continues to expand and develop.
This project has now been expanded globally covering – Africa, Latin America, South East Asia and Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) regions in countries such as Cameroon, The Gambia and Togo, Mexico, Guatemala and Chile, Thailand, Cambodia, Maldova, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine.
For more information on this project, visit the ECPAT website.
